Besides its obvious Military applications the ASS1 has also potential in many other fields. It could be the last home defense weapon you will ever need or a very expensive better designed machete for the backyard. Whatever you do with it, you will immediately find it very fast and well balance. The possibility of encountering a broad sword in the field is unlikely, therefore we did not design a two hands handle. It permits a generous grip at 7 inches, but the most common weapon you will face is a 22 inch machete, very popular in third world countries. In order to have the "edge" we made the ASS1 longer and lighter. made of 5160 it can take the most severe lateral beating and spring back to normal. The back edge even though ground all the way is only sharp over 6 inches. Also available is a full size heavier trainer, dull but heat treated to take a good old fashion beating. We have owned and tested many sword but we never found or even designed anything quite like this. We found the ASS1 to be more practical, far superior in balance and weight distribution than any other sword. Thanks to the outstanding craftsmanship of Robert Newton.
